Cherry and Sitka Spruce Dreadnought
$3,350
I love cherry. In my opinion, it is among the most unsung heroes of American tonewoods. With cherry back and sides and Sitka spruce top, this guitar rings out with strong projection and a slightly quicker decay that’s perfect for quick flatpicking or strapping on the fingerpicks. It exhibits great balance across bass, mid-range and treble. Plus, it’s a gorgeous wood that darkens with exposure to sunlight. The light pink you see here will darken to a deep reddish color over time.
Neck profile and width truly are a matter of personal preference, but very generally speaking, flat-pickers often prefer a slightly narrower, thicker neck with string action set a bit higher to stand up to a more aggressive attack. (Of course, action can always be adjusted to your preference.) So this guitar has more of a traditional D-shape neck with a nut width of 1-11/16 inches rather than the flatter profile with 1-3/4 I use for guitars aimed at fingerstylists.
