Wenge and Sitka Spruce OM Cutaway

$3,600

Wenge is a plentiful and relatively affordable tonewood that grows in Africa. It’s brittle compared to most other hardwoods and this gives it a lot of projection. This guitar has a lot of dynamic range—it responds warmly to finger flesh, and becomes quite bright and loud when attacked with fingerpicks or a flat pick. I actually had a flat-picker in mind when I designed this guitar. So I gave it a relatively narrow 1 11/16-inch nut width and included the Florentine cutaway for easy access to the high frets. For example, this guitar would be perfect for a bluegrass player who wants something smaller than a dreadnought. The mother-of-pearl purfling adds a bit of sparkle, standing out against the wenge and the ebony binding.
